Knoll Gardens needs garden guides, fundraisers and a bumblebee surveyor to volunteer, so come down to the open day on 12 May.
The Knoll Gardens Foundation is holding a special open day on Friday 12 May in an effort to attract volunteers to fill a number of key roles.
The Wimborne-based horticultural charity promotes a sustainable, wildlife friendly gardening style which can create a stunning effect whilst requiring little maintenance. Volunteers undertake a variety of roles and the Foundation is currently looking for garden guides, fundraisers, wildlife surveyors, an administrator and community link volunteers.
Peter Gear, Chairman of Trustees, said, “We already have a number of wonderful volunteers who share our enthusiasm for wildlife-friendly gardens and we want to meet like-minded people who would like to join our team.
“This special open day is a great opportunity for garden lovers to understand more about what the charity does and how they can get involved. Foundation volunteers will be in the garden all day to talk about their role, and explain more about the ethos of the garden. There will also be an opportunity to talk to Trustees about the volunteering opportunities currently available.
“Perhaps one of the most unusual volunteer roles on offer is that of a bumblebee surveyor. We already observe and record butterflies, dragonflies and birds and now we want to know how our bees are faring in the garden. Working in partnership with the Dorset Wildlife Trust we installed a large bee ‘hotel’ last year and we want to know how it is being used and how our bee-friendly approach can be transferred to domestic gardens.”
