The family owned pet store chain PamPurredPets has introduced weighing scales, similar to those used by vets, so that customers can monitor the weight of their pets free of charge as part of a new “Fit Club”. Pet owners will be able to gain dietary advice from store staff. Steve Fowler, Managing Director and founder of PamPurredPets, says that thanks to the sponsorship from pet health food manufacturer Royal Canin, owners concerned about their pets’ feeding habits can monitor the success of changes to exercise and eating habits.
“Our cardboard cut-out shown in our publicity photo definitely does not need to go on a diet, but unfortunately many pets can have their lives shortened if they do not receive the correct nutrition and portion sizes. We do not intend to start lecturing customers but hope to make them aware that being over generous with food could be harmful to their pet’s health,” said Steve Fowler.
