Ghoulish attempt to break world record this Thursday in Dorchester
Brewery Square is inviting locals to take part this Halloween in an attempt to break the world record for the largest gathering of ghosts.
Dorchester’s Brewery Square will attempt to break the world record for gathering most amount of ghosts in one location. The current record is 560 ghosts.
The managers of the retail and entertainment space are inviting hundreds of costumed ghosts from across Dorset to converge in Brewery Square and attempt to make history by breaking the record.
Dorchester is famed for its haunted history. Residents and visitors have claimed to see the ghost of infamous Judge Jeffreys, the dreaded “Hanging Judge” of the Bloody Assizes, roaming the streets of the town. Martha Brown, the last woman publicly hanged in Dorset, is also claimed to haunt Dorchester.
To celebrate Halloween, Brewery Square will host a full day of activities, including Spooky Crafts from 9am to 5pm and face painting from 2pm to 5pm.
The world record attempt will take place from 5.30pm to 8pm. Participants are asked to wear a white sheet or creative ghostly costume to take part. Attendees can look forward to free popcorn and candyfloss, as well as entertainment from stilt walkers and live music, including a performance by That Britpop Band.
Tara Bailey, centre manager at Brewery Square comments: “Halloween is one of the highlights of the Brewery Square event calendar and what better opportunity to have another go at this world record breaking attempt. Last year, we came so close to breaking the record, but we’re determined to make history this time.
“We can’t do it alone. We need everyone to join in and help to make the occasion even more ghostly! Make sure to follow our social media for more details.”
