West Moors Guides are working on their Fastnet Challenge badge, supporting older members of Guiding who compete in the yacht race this August. The activities may be land-based, but still involve water and lots of challenges, including making waterproof outfits, models of the Needles using spaghetti and marshmallows, singing sea-shanties and visiting Moors Valley to ‘climb the rigging’.
Food activities are always popular with West Moors Guides and a team from the unit is competing in the Rose Bowl cooking competition at Dudsbury this June to try and win the cup back.
New leaders are currently required for this unit. If you are over 18, and would like a new challenge or to make a contribution to your community, please get in touch and find out more. Girl guiding provides local training and support for all leaders to ensure a varied programme and that the unit is run safely – it’s always a team effort.
