The ladies of the Oakmedians rugby club: inclusive of mothers, aunts, sisters, partners and indeed their very own ladies team were treated to a slap up meal and a game of rugby when the 1st XV team played Blandford RFC on 8 March at Meyrick Park.
They were celebrating International Woman’s Day with their own ladies day. Following the match there was a raffle, players auction and after party. The club was raising money for the chairman’s charity which this season has been the Bournemouth food bank, a total of £155 has been donated, £55 from ladies day.
Ladies day has been running within the club for the past four years.
Clubhouse manager Jane Hart says, “It was really fantastic to see so many women at the club, the game of rugby is not widely known as a ladies sport so to see not only our own ladies team here but also many other ladies really was great, roll on next year when the event will be even bigger and better!”
Oakmeadians celebrate 50 years in the community and pride themselves on being a family-friendly rugby club set in the heart of Bournemouth. The club has 20 teams and over 700 members including their very own little bears who are the only RFU accredited 3-5 year old age group.
