Golf club captain raises £11,436.86 for Ferndown charity
The 2023 Ladies Captain, at Ferndown Golf Club, raised £11,436.86 for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.
Julie Richardson, the 2023 Ladies Captain, at Ferndown Golf Club, chose the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) as her charity of the year and has subsequently raised £11,436.86.
The most memorable event was the Triathlon with a Twist. This was a five-K run, followed by the Go Ape High Ropes Course at Moors Valley, and a five-mile cycle to finish. Over 30 participants and volunteers took part.
Charity chairman Pete Thornton said: “To raise £11,436 is testament to the kindness and generosity of all those at Ferndown Golf Club and an achievement to be truly proud of.
“Young people are experiencing many challenges in these difficult times and need support more than ever before. The funding raised by Julie, the Ladies Section and all the members at Ferndown Golf Club will enable the JTYAF to continue to do the great work that they do by providing bursaries and scholarships for local young people from a wide array of youth organisations.”
Julie said: “I know that this money will benefit many young people which was my main aim in choosing the JTYAF as my charity.”
