Following a year of fundraising, members of Sturminster Marshall Golf Club have made a substantial donation to local blood cancer charity, Leaf.
The club chose to support Leaf as the charity has provided invaluable support to a number of its members. A cheque for £1,175 was presented by the club’s ladies captain, senior men’s captain and club chairman.
“The club’s kind donation will make a real difference to those in Dorset who have been diagnosed with blood cancer,” said Katie Mosses, fundraising and marketing manager at Leaf. “The generosity of the members of Sturminster Marshall Golf Club means that we are able to continue providing practical, emotional and financial support to patients and their families who are going through an extremely tough time.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in raising this fantastic amount.”
Leaf was founded in 2006 by Wimborne resident Natasha Jones, who was diagnosed with leukaemia just three weeks after giving birth to her second son. Leaf provides practical, emotional and financial support to blood cancer patients and their families, as well as purchasing vital equipment for local hospitals and funding study courses for health professionals.
