A rare German doll is to be sold by Lawrences Auctioneers of Crewkerne.
Consigned for sale by a local client who had inherited the doll, it was made by well known manufacturer Kammer & Reinhardt in Germany. “It has the unusual feature of a closed mouth, something which is uncommon in porcelain head dolls,” says Lawrences specialist, Simon Jones [pictured with the doll]. “This doll is known as ‘Mein Liebling’ (my darling),” he continues. “It dates from the early years of the 20th century and stands 18 inches (46cm) high. It is in remarkably good condition for its age and rare dolls still command a great amount of interest in auction. There are many collectors for the rarer models such as this.”
The doll will be sold in Lawrences May Collectors and Sporting Auction, and she is expected to make £500-800 in auction. For information about this sale or to enquire about the value of your collectors’ items, please contact Simon Jones on 01460 73041.
