Grass Roots return to Allendale Centre in Wimborne
The Allendale Community Centre has announced that it is taking Grass Roots Theatre Company in-house on a permanent basis.
As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the Allendale Community Centre in Wimborne Minster has announced its new working relationship with Grass Roots Theatre Company, as it is taking the company in-house on a permanent basis.
Grass Roots Theatre Company is made up of local talent, with performers from across Wimborne and the surrounding areas. It aims to champion the vibrant work of Dorset-based playwrights, as well as perform a host of acclaimed dramas and comedies.
Taking the company in-house is part of the Allendale Centre’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the arts and providing a platform for home-grown talent.
Theatre Manager Vince Sherry said: “This is a milestone year for us. What better way to celebrate five decades of community spirit than by working with a theatre company that draws directly from that spirit? Grass Roots is about quality, originality and proud local flavour.”
Grass Roots Theatre Company next show will take place on 18–20 September, with the cast performing two comedies by David Tristram that offer a witty, relatable take on everyday life: ‘The Extraordinary Revelations of Orca the Goldfish’ and ‘Women Only’.
Julia Stringer, founder of Grass Roots Theatre Company, said: “It’s so exciting to have a base at the Allendale. Audiences can look forward to laughter, community camaraderie and a celebration of Dorset’s dramatic talent.”
Performances are at 7.30pm on 18 and 20 September and 8pm on 19 September.
Tickets can be booked online from www.theallendale.org/grassroots.
