Diverse Abilities's Great Dorset Bake Sale 2018
Dorset charity, Diverse Abilities, is gearing up for this year’s Great Dorset Bake Sale 2018 taking place on Friday 1 June.
Diverse Abilities hopes that its seventh annual Great Dorset Bake Sale will result in hundreds of bake sales and coffee mornings being held simultaneously across Dorset to raise vital funds for the charity’s essential work supporting children and adults with disabilities.
Nicole Warrilow, community fundraiser at Diverse Abilities, said, “We’re encouraging everyone to get their bake on and be part of our Dorset-wide bake sale. Last year we had a mix of home-based bake sales with friends and family, offices with colleagues and even businesses taking part. I held one in my garden at home and invited all my friends and neighbours. Who doesn’t love an opportunity to eat cake?!”
Steve Winson, the owner of Butterfingers Sandwich Bar in Poole, got involved last year by selling homemade cakes to his customers and donating funds to Diverse Abilities. Steve said, “We were thrilled with the amount we raised for Diverse Abilities. Our cake sale raised £109, which we were really proud of. It’s a worthy cause and good to help the people in our local community.”
Everyone that takes part in the Great Dorset Bake Sale will receive a fundraising pack with bake sale tips, cake recipes to choose from, information on how to make your bake sale event a success, plus much more.
Nicole added, “If you can’t hold a bake sale on 1 June, ‘not a problem. You can hold a bake sale any time of the year to raise funds for Diverse Abilities. Just let us know and we can send you a pack to get started.”

The charity says every penny counts and by baking a difference and raising just £50, they can purchase a variety of sensory toys for use by adults or children supported by the charity. Raising £100 will fund the entire nursing team for an hour at the specialist school.
