The Durlston Country Park rangers are asking people to help clean Swanage Beach, as part of the Great Dorset Beach Clean 2016 and the ‘Litter Free Coast and Sea’ campaign.
This event aims to keep beaches tidy, improving the shore and marine environments for the enjoyment of residents, visitors and wildlife. It’s a great opportunity to take pride in your local area whilst learning about the waste on our shores and where it comes from.
“We all enjoy Swanage beach and are less appreciative when a rough tide covers the shore in litter. Yet many of us play little role in cleaning up the rubbish. If everyone who uses the beach picks up just one piece of litter we’d have a clean beach in no time at all. This is your opportunity to get together as a group and do your bit to help,” said Ben Tolley, apprentice ranger at Dorset County Council’s Durlston Country Park.
The Swanage beach clean takes place on Saturday 23 of April at 2.30pm on the beach outside the Bull & Boat restaurant. Bags and gloves provided with the event taking about an hour. It’s free and everybody is welcome to get involved. So bring along your friends and family and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Swanage bay whilst doing your bit for the environment.
