The Great Dorset Steam Fair is ‘show ready’ in plenty of time for opening day tomorrow, Wednesday 28 August. Visitors are being advised to prepare for warm weather.
The day before the Great Dorset Steam Fair opens to the public there are already over 5,000 caravans and tents covering 170 acres of the 600 acre site, with expectations for at least 15,000 more to set up camp over the next few days.
The event has become so popular worldwide, that there is now a German translator on site to assist with enquiries. There are exhibitors attending not just from Europe, but also from Africa, America and even New Zealand.
Operations Manager, Julian Hubbuck, says: “Our staff are briefed and ready, the site infrastructure is set up, the showground conditions are excellent and the last few exhibitors are now arriving onsite. We are prepared and ready to deliver a smooth running five day show. Gates open at 8am tomorrow morning.”
Rob Harvey, from the St John Ambulance unit based at the Great Dorset Steam Fair, says: “We are expecting some warm weather this week, so all visitors to the Great Dorset Steam Fair are advised to bring sun cream, sun hats and plenty of water. Please also remember to pack any medication you will require during your visit.”
Managing Director, Martin Oliver, says: “We are feeling very positive about the show this year and there is already a great atmosphere on site. The weather forecast is looking good and we have some excellent exhibits on offer, so I think we are set for one of our best years ever.”
