Great personalities guaranteed
By Cat Abbott, Diverse Abilities
This month we’re all about recruitment – there’s nothing better than being able to say you are part f an organisation or doing a role that is genuinely making a difference in people’s lives.

I’ve been working for Diverse Abilities for a little over 18 months now, and knowing that I’m part of a well-oiled ‘do good’ machine (of more than 400 parts) really does give me those warm fuzzies because I am safe in the knowledge that we are doing everything we can to provide ‘extraordinary lives for extraordinary people’, just as our slogan suggests.
Perhaps you’re considering a change of career, or perhaps the pandemic has left you with a sense of wanting to make a difference in the community, so here’s my elevator pitch as to why you should consider working for Diverse Abilities.
I know everyone says this, but there really is something for everyone through a range of roles that are full time, part time, or zero hour, so you can work alongside anything else in your life like childcare, university, and college if you want to.
You can genuinely have fun on the job. Whether it’s getting messy with arts and crafts, taking someone we support on a trip to the cinema or out on a boat, or preparing delicious meals, you’ll be playing a part in letting people achieve their full potential.
Back in the days when we were office-based, we used to have some of the adults we support visiting us regularly to help out as part of their mission to be independent – we miss those smiley faces, and here’s hoping they can be back again one day. Pictured is Eric, one of the adults we support, and he could regularly be found in the office helping with day-to-day tasks like shredding and organising.
There’s also no experience necessary, we’ll provide all the training you need on the job, as well as pay for any courses you need to attend.
We can guarantee that no day will be the same, and you’ll meet some absolutely cracking personalities along the way. Working in care can be a thankless task, but we’re always making sure our staff know how much we value everything they do.
If that’s enough to convince you, head over to diverseabilities.org.uk/jobs to check out what roles we currently have available.
Until next time, keep safe, and enjoy the pub responsibly…
Thanks,
Cat
