Guy Ritchie suit to be auctioned silently to raise funds for Julia's House
Film director Guy Ritchie, his wife Jacqui and actor Martin Clunes have donated items of clothing to support the Dorset and Wiltshire children’s hospice charity, Julia's House, and the items will be displayed at the charity's new shop in Salisbury.
Three patrons of Julia’s House, film director Guy Ritchie, his wife Jacqui and actor Martin Clunes, have offered items for auction and these will go on display at the charity’s new shop in Salisbury when it opens on Thursday, 2 November at 10am.
There are two Versace pieces from Guy Ritchie – a suit and a coat, an Alexander McQueen dress from Jacqui Ritchie and Martin Clunes has donated a suit he wore as Doc Martin in the hit ITV series.
Fans can bid on the clothing via a silent auction that will close at midnight on Sunday, 19 November. Bids can be made in store or by emailing retail@juliashouse.org and putting ‘celebrity clothes bid’ in the subject box.
There will also be a number of other fashion gems on sale including a Vivienne Westwood coat and big brand labels such as Ted Baker, Phase Eight and Jack Wills.
The celebrity items are being kept under wraps until the big day, but staff are anticipating a lot of interest.
Over the past few weeks volunteers – including teams from the army and local businesses – have been painting and preparing the interior of the shop at The Bridge, Fisherton Street. It will showcase larger pieces of furniture and homeware as well as high quality clothing, accessories, toys and books.
“We are thrilled to have the support of our patrons for our first Wiltshire shop. We have some fantastic designer labels up for grabs for a snip of the price,” said retail manager Tracy Stanley. “Julia’s House shops have a special look and feel that is very different to most people’s perceptions of a charity shop. With fresh modern interiors, room set ideas and vintage-inspired fittings it should be a really enjoyable experience for our customers.”
The charity is unable to accept donated items until the shop is officially open, but if you want to donate larger items, these can be pre-booked for collection by calling 01202 601998.
Julia’s House opened a dedicated Wiltshire children’s hospice in Devizes earlier this year. Its team of nurses and carers also provide home-based care for families throughout the county from Salisbury to Swindon. It currently cares for more than 40 families.
