Hamworthy Heating announces 2017 fundraising result for local charity Julia’s House
Poole-based commercial boiler manufacturer Hamworthy Heating raised a total of £2,050 in 2017 for its Charity of the Year, thanks to staff donations and a variety of activities throughout the year.
In 2017, Hamworthy Heating staff chose Julia’s House, a local children’s hospice charity which supports families with children who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
Julia’s House not only operates two hospices – one in Poole and since May last year also one in Wiltshire – but also provides activities for the whole family to help them during difficult or stressful times.
The charity regularly organises fundraising events such as cycle challenges, sky jumping or trekking events, to name just a few.
In May, Julia’s House encouraged supporters to ‘Wear something loud’ and Hamworthy followed suit. For a small donation per employee, staff took a break from office work clothes for a day.
October saw the boiler manufacturer’s annual bake-off competition, including a cake sale for Julia’s House, take on a Halloween theme.
In November, Hamworthy moved offices. Clearing out the old office meant a lot of old office furniture was seeking new owners in a charity sale. Other items were then donated to Dorset Scrap Store. In the same month, credit controller Lee also let his hair and beard grow and donated the money he received from those who sponsored him to Julia’s House.
Finally, the annual Christmas raffle for staff was the last opportunity to raise more funds. All in all, Hamworthy and their staff were able to donate a total of £2,050 to Julia’s House.
Sue Miles, business fundraiser at Julia’s House comments, “We are so grateful that Hamworthy Heating chose Julia’s House as their charity for 2017. Their enthusiasm has been fantastic. Thanks to their fundraising efforts, nine school-age children can enjoy six hours of hospice sessions during the school holidays. These sessions provide fun, friendship and reliable care for the children, while the parents receive a much-needed break. Well done Hamworthy Heating!”
