Football legend Harry Redknapp is urging people to spend a day in a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce to help grant the wishes of poorly children.
Harry, who lives in Sandbanks, Poole, is a patron of the Bournemouth-based charity Round Table Children’s Wish, which grants wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.
The charity has been given use of a spectacular, purple, Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II for the whole of this week (October 12-18), with all the money they raise from its hire going towards its work.
Harry explained: “We are offering people the chance to hire the Rolls for £100 for an hour or £1000 for a whole day. They will then have a chauffeur and a whole tank of fuel to take them where they want to go, all the while knowing their donation is granting wishes for very poorly children.”
Harry added: “It’s a spectacular car and a trip in it would make a fantastic birthday treat for someone, or you can club together with your friends and take it out for a whole day.”
Round Table Children’s Wish is based in Moordown and celebrates its 25th anniversary this Friday (16 October).
The charity grants wishes including trips to Disneyland Paris, toys and computer equipment and meetings with favourite celebrities.
Adrienne Segal, whose fiancé Sir Gary Davis owns Panorama Bay Motors Ltd in Sandbanks, has hired the Rolls Royce for a day with three of her friends.
She said: “We were very keen to support Round Table Children’s Wish. It is a great charity helping many children and families in some of their most trying times.”
She added: “We will be enjoying a trip up to London and I’m sure we are going to attract a lot of attention in this fabulous car.”
