The National Nest Box Week (14 to 21 February) organised by the BTO (British Trust for Ornithology) will this year have the support of the Talbot House Preparatory School as the Haskins Garden Centre has donated a Camera Nest Box so pupils can follow the progress of any nesting birds.
Haskins General Manager Matt Hill presented head teacher Emma Haworth and pupils Alex Bushnell, Christopher Yong and Luke Kelly, who will lead the monitoring of the birds, the high tech nesting box.
“We plan to place the box in one of the quieter outdoor areas,” said Emma Haworth. “The pupils will be delighted to be able to see the inside of the nest as well as the activity outside.”
The Haskins website offers the chance for anyone to win one of the camera nesting boxes with the competition closing date of 27 February. Visit www.haskins.co.uk for information.
