A hat-trick from Calor League top-scorer Mark Gamble spurred Wimborne Town FC to a 6-2 victory at Evesham United last Saturday (28 December).
It was the second time this term the Magpies had put six past Evesham; they beat their Worcestershire rivals 6-0 at Cuthbury back in August, with Gamble scoring three on that occasion as well.
The victory at Evesham ended three defeats on-the-trot, the last being a 2-1 Boxing Day reversal at home to Bridgwater Town.
A large Cuthbury crowd saw Jon Blake put the Magpies into a first half lead. But the visitors hit back with two-goals inside four minutes early in the second period.
The Magpies play their first game of 2014 at their Cuthbury home this Saturday when they meet Yate Town, kick off 3pm. They will be looking to avenge the 2-1 defeat suffered at Yate in the season-opener.
