Police in Dorchester are appealing for the help of the public after a large quantity of copper wire was recovered in the town.
On Saturday 29 June 2013 at around 1.40pm, officers arrested two men at a property on Cambridge Road on suspicion of theft.
Police Constable Jessica Chapman, of Dorchester police, said: “As a result of these arrests, we have recovered a significant amount of high specification copper wire.
“Unfortunately at this stage we do not know who the victim is as nobody has come forward to report this missing material.
“The recovered property consists of two large copper wire reels, one being a 3 CORR 6.0mm measuring 100m in length, and the other a 1.5mm CORR measuring the same.
“We are urging any individual or business that may be missing such items to contact Dorset Police is confidence.
“It is possible that the owners have not yet realised that this copper wire is missing.
“Please contact us as soon as possible if you have any information that may assist with my investigation.”
Two Dorchester men, aged 27 and 39, have been arrested on suspicion of theft and bailed until late July 2013.
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 29:305. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
