The search for missing teenager Amy Latham has ended in the heartbreaking discovery of her body in woods near her home in Wimborne.
On Tuesday day police had said they were ‘gravely concerned’ about 18 year old Amy who had been missing from her home in since Monday.
She had last been seen at her home in Walford Gardens at 7.30am.
Appealing for help in finding Amy, Police Chief Inspector Debbie Marsden said: “I understand that Amy has been very upset recently and her family is concerned that she may come to some harm.
“She took her mobile and last made contact with a friend at 2.30pm but since then we have been unable to contact her. She did not take any money or clothes and she does not have access to a car.
Friends immediately started a Twitter and Facebook compaign to find her while police searched the area near her home.
Just after 6pm police announced on Twitter – Sadly a body has been found which is believed to be the missing teenager from Wimborne.
And a post on the Facebook page set up to try and find her confirmed that it was Amy.
The Latham family are devastated to say that Amy’s body has been found. They want to thank Amy’s friends and family for their support. Please respect their privacy whilst they come to terms with this news.
Amy had just completed her A levels at QE school in Wimborne.
She lived in Wimborne with her dad, Graham while her mum, Sue Latham, lives in Sturminster Marshall.
Police confirmed that the coroner had been informed and that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
