Help clean Dorset beaches this April
The Great Dorset Beach Clean takes place at numerous beaches across the county over a period from 1–12 April ahead of the summer season.
People looking for something worthwhile and family-friendly to do over the Easter period are invited to take part in the Great Dorset Beach Clean from 1–12 April.
Organised by volunteer and community groups across the county, the Great Dorset Beach Clean encourages people to get outside, enjoy the stunning coastline, and help protect the local environment.
Last year’s event saw an incredible community effort, with 297 volunteers taking part, 17 beaches cleaned and 330kg of rubbish removed from the shoreline.
Taking part is simple: choose a beach clean near you, turn up and join the friendly teams making a difference.
All equipment will be provided; however, participants are encouraged to bring their own gloves and wear suitable clothing for coastal conditions.

Emma Jackson, Litter Free Dorset project support officer, said: “Beach cleans are a simple but powerful way for communities to come together to reduce marine litter and protect our beautiful coastline.
“Alongside the environmental benefits, volunteers also enjoy the social aspect, the boost to physical wellbeing, and the chance to breathe in plenty of fresh sea air.”
