Autism Wessex is looking for volunteers to help out at the Summer Solstice 10K at Moors Valley Country Park at 7pm on Friday 20t June.
People are needed to marshall, to help at water stations and to help as car park stewards at the popular event.
John Murray, Portfolio Manager at Natwest Bournemouth, has volunteered for Autism Wessex since 2009, supporting the charity and giving his time to various events.
He said: “I started volunteering for Autism Wessex when I moved to the area. I had free time and wanted to support a local cause. I like volunteering at the running events; they are very busy and have a great atmosphere. The range of events hosted by Autism Wessex have really appeal to me, which has meant I have enjoyed volunteering for the charity for the past 5 years.”
Autism Wessex supports anyone affected by autism and associated difficulties across Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Somerset. The help is varied and far reaching and every penny the charity raise is essential to maintaining its services.
Sylvia Carpenter, Volunteer Coordinator for Autism Wessex, said: “We are so grateful to people like John who give their spare time to help us at our events. The spare time people can give is considered as extremely valuable time by us. The events programme helps us raise funds for our current and future services and the volunteers are vital to making the events happen.”
