Highcliffe Community Association is hosting a unique event on Friday, 8 of March from 2.30pm at the Methodist Church Hall in Lymington Road. Navitus Bay Development Ltd will give a presentation for 30 minutes setting out their reasons in favour of building the offshore wind farm in Poole Bay and then the reasons for their opposing the current plans and some possible alternatives will be set out in 30 minutes by Challenge Navitus.
Highcliffe Community Association has more than 1,700 members and they, and other local residents, are invited to be there and to question both parties about the pros and cons of this proposed major development off the Dorset coast. One hour will be set aside for as many questions and answers as possible with the aim of concluding the meeting by 4.30pm.
“This may be the first time that local people will see the two views clearly set out in one meeting where residents can hear both sides explain their views in detail. People will be able to ask either side any questions that they wish to get a clear view of the good or bad effects that the wind farm will have on our community,” said Dorset Councillor Alan Griffiths who will be chairman of the meeting. “Highcliffe Community Association hopes that as many people as possible will come to hear at first hand the facts behind what is the largest proposed development in our area and what impact it may have on our lives.”
Catastrophic destabilisation of Earth’s climate is predicted with the World Bank, the International Energy Agency, PriceWaterhouseCoopers,Lord Stern, Prince Charles and others warning of dire consequences.
Humanity, amazingly successful in terminating many species, is now set to commit suicide with its dependence on filthy fossil. We are wiping out the bees, the fish, the birds etc and now wiping out a habitable climate. Droughts and flooding set to increase (climate-affected jet stream) as well as conflict over diminishing resources and mass migrations from those deprived.
There’s a leadership failure internationally. Mainstream media and most politicians are failing us. Eco-illiteracy rampant. Strangely, none of this is mentioned on the Challenge Nimbitus website. Some people are more bothered about their own view than the welfare of our collective children. Beyond Stafford/Saville/horseburger/banking abuse. Goodbye caring civilisation. What a legacy.
