History in Harmony
Poole & Parkstone Productions, The Barrington Theatre, Ferndown
Review by Marilyn Barber
History comes alive in Ferndown in the most vibrant, colourful and entertaining way, with this company using musicals to mark history’s defining moments.
It was a mammoth task for the production team, as there are 43 talented adult and 42 entrancing child cast members.
Take a bow director and choreographer Kellie Oxborrow for getting the very, very best from the adults, and choreographer Leanne Holland for bringing out the enthusiasm and stage presence of the children.
The opening number from ‘The Greatest Showman’ is an indication of the treat the audience has in store for them, with the company proving that their dedicated rehearsals had paid off.
Throughout the show, the dancing and the costumes are spot on, and the audience is treated to some excellent solo performances from singers too numerous to mention.
Shows featured include ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘Titanic, The Musical’, ‘Les Misérables’, ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ and ‘Six’, and it ended with ‘Nutbush/Proud Mary’ from ‘Tina, The Musical’.
Live music is such an important part of the production too, so take a bow conductor Chris McDouall for his band.
Sadly, I can’t urge readers to buy a ticket as Clare Albanozzo, chairman of the society, who is also musical director, said each of the four performances from Thursday 20 to Saturday 22 November were sold out two weeks ago.
This is certainly testament to the popularity of this company, who will be returning to The Barrington from 25 to 28 March with ‘The Rise and Fall of Little Voice’.
