Beautiful Bees and Glorious Gardens is a special charity event taking place at Knoll Gardens, near Wimborne on 16 August. It has been created to highlight the important role bees play as pollinators and look at ways we can all help to halt their declining numbers.
With over 1 million acres of gardens across the UK there is a lot we can do to provide practical help to all our pollinators, providing food in the form of pollen and nectar, and shelter. At Beautiful Bees and Glorious Gardens you can draw on expert advice to ensure your garden is not only full of flower but is also wildlife-friendly.
Alongside gardening tips you will also be able to find out more about the world of the bee with guided identification walks led by Richard Comont from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and Jane Adams, one of the founders of the national Garden Bioblitz.
Twenty-four species of bumblebee live in the UK, along with the honey bee, and 225 species of solitary bee. As well as exploring their world in Knoll Gardens’ naturalistic setting, Beautiful Bees and Glorious Gardens will bring together a selection of local honey producers, candle makers and specialist organisations for a day celebrating the extraordinary role that bees play in all our lives.
Beautiful Bees and Glorious Gardens is on 16 August at Knoll Gardens, near Wimborne and opens from 10am-4pm. Cream teas and refreshments will be available all day. Normal admission charges apply.
