Hope for Food supported by local firm
Hope for Food, a Bournemouth-based charity has received donations of sweets and chocolate to be distributed to the local community.
The confectionery was donated by Condor Ferries, which had a surplus following a reduction in sailings due to travel restrictions, with the intention that it would be distributed to deserving causes.
The link between the two organisations came through Imogen Byers, who volunteers for Hope for Food when not working at Condor’s head office in Poole.
Condor’s head of sales and marketing, Justin Amey, said, “Imogen is always very enthusiastic about her spare time spent volunteering and she approached us last month to see if we could help.
“We hope these treats bring a smile to everyone’s faces during these uncertain times and are grateful to the team at Hope for Food for the amazing work they are doing to support our community.”
Hope for Food’s trustee and secretary, Mary Duncan, said, “We are grateful to Condor and Imogen as the confectionery will be used as treats for food parcels we distribute in the Bournemouth area following referrals from GPs, schools and social workers. The parcels contain other items including beans, cereal, pasta and pasta sauce.”
Hope for Food was established in 2012. It provides basic essentials on a day to day basis to men, women and children in Bournemouth who are either homeless or living in poverty.
