Hopes for re-opening of Wimborne Model Town
By Marilyn Barber
Although Wimborne Model Town was unable to open as planned on 28 March, work has been going on behind the scenes with the Covid Crew consisting of Greg Hoar, development manager, Mike Hopkins, gardening trustee, and Penri Jones, who looks after buildings and facilities, covering administration, security and necessary maintenance.
Greg said, “We are now letting a small number of distanced volunteers help with the gardens and site in preparation for re-opening planned to be from 11 July. This is subject to government regulations and the necessary precautions put in place which will potentially restrict the number of days per week we are open for initially.”
The café is well-known for its excellent cakes, and Greg says they hope to offer a service in the garden served from the tearoom annexe.
“We are also looking into how we can enable people to play crazy golf, but realise the Wendy Street will be a bit of a challenge,” said Greg.
