Chief Executive Tony Spotswood presents the Interactive Exhibitor Award to Giuseppine Hall and Debbie Detheridge from Orthodontics
The Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) hosted its annual open day on Wednesday, giving patients, staff and the public the opportunity to find out about the range of services available at the Trust.
Visitors got involved with a number of interactive displays in the hospital atrium while five consultant-led health talks took place in the chapel. Basic health checks were on offer and the infection control team promoted the importance of hand hygiene using a small UV light box highlighting areas where germs are present.
Other displays included a showcase of the Trust’s values and information about building projects at both RBH and Christchurch Hospital.
Louisa Way, Lead Tissue Viability Nurse at RBH, hosted a stand on wound management. She said: “Events like this are great. They enable us to showcase the range of new equipment we have and offer people advice and support face to face. Tissue viability is a grey area and not a lot of people understand the dangers of things like pressure ulcers and the treatments on offer. This event has given us the opportunity to be proactive, teach and inform.”
Chief Executive Tony Spotswood presented the Interactive Exhibitor Award to the Orthodontics Department, whose stand explored the dangers of sugary foods and drink, and offered advice and guidance on what we can do to make sure we have healthy teeth and gums.
Visitors could also take part in a quiz to test their knowledge on the amount of sugar in various sweet treats.
