The Bishop of Winchester Academy in Bournemouth, welcomed Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal to commemorate the official opening of the £14.5 million facilities which were constructed using government funding secured with the help of MP Tobias Ellwood.
Principal Paul McKeown took the Princess on a tour of the new facilities at the academy and invited her to unveil a slate plaque in a ceremony attended by Year 7 and 9 students. The Rt Rev Tim Dakin, Bishop of Winchester gave a blessing during the ceremony.
Paul McKeown said that he was delighted that The Princess Royal was able to perform the ceremony: “This is a great day for the academy. We can continue to focus on the high quality of education for all of our students, including our first Sixth form so they are prepared for their future, whether on in University or to employment within commerce and industry.”
