International Film Festival launches in Bournemouth
The Bournemouth International Film Festival will take place at the Hilton in Terrace Road on 3 and 4 October.
Filmmakers and screenwriters are invited to submit their work to the first-ever Bournemouth International Film Festival (BIFF), but they have to do it before 12 September.
The BIFF will take place on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 October at the Hilton Bournemouth in Terrace Road. It will showcase and celebrate films from a mixture of emerging talent and established filmmakers, whilst providing networking opportunities and workshops for those interested in working in the film industry.
Founded as a not-for-profit cultural initiative, BIFF will screen a curated selection of national and international films submitted by filmmakers, including short and feature films, documentaries, and animation. In addition, ticket holders can attend industry panels and creative workshops, networking events and Q&As. There are also tickets available to a black-tie awards night and after-party on Saturday 4 October, celebrating the best films on display at BIFF 2025, selected by a national judging panel of award-winning writers, directors, and producers.
Bournemouth-based festival director, Steve McCarten, said: “This is more than a festival. It’s the beginning of a long-term cultural investment in our region. We want to showcase brilliant national and international work, whilst also building real opportunities for the next generation of local filmmakers here in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
“While the weekend itself will be a celebration of independent storytelling, BIFF is also designed to deliver year-round impact through educational outreach, community projects and partnerships with regional creative organisations. Supported by local institutions, businesses and public sector partners, the festival is positioning itself as a key driver of Bournemouth’s creative and cultural identity. BIFF is committed to accessible pricing, diverse programming, and inclusive participation from audiences of all ages and backgrounds.”
