Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after an intruder entered two properties in Bovington.
The incidents happened between 2.30am and 3.30am on Friday 21 August, at two separate addresses in the Andover Green area.
On both occasions a man entered the homes and ran off when the victims woke up.
Nothing was taken from the properties and no injuries were sustained.
It is unknown at this time what the intruder’s intentions were when inside the properties.
Detective Constable Nick Gravenor, of Western CID, said: “We are carrying out an investigation to determine who the offender is and what he was doing in the victims’ homes.
“I am appealing to anyone with information that may help us identify this man, to contact me urgently.
“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Andover Green area between the relevant times.
“I would also like to ask residents to remain vigilant, ensure their properties are secure at all times, and report any unusual behaviour to us immediately.
“While these incidents are concerning, I would like to reassure members of the community that extra patrols have been put in place in this area for their safety and peace of mind.”
