Invitation for war veterans
Veterans, who might otherwise be on their own, are invited to attend a D-Day ‘Ritz’ themed afternoon of reflection and remembrance in Ringwood.
A Ringwood care home is inviting local veterans who might be alone on 6 June to join an event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
St Ives House will be holding a ‘Ritz’ themed afternoon of reflection and remembrance at the care home on Horton Road. It has been organised for the home’s residents, and the residents of St Ives Place, the neighbouring assisted-living apartments and cottages, some of whom are armed forces veterans or have family or relations who served.
There is no cost for veterans to attend the event and St Ives House can provide transport for people who are unable to get to the care home. Places must be booked in advance by Monday 3 June.
Emma Cotton, home manager at St Ives House, said: “At Care South, we are home to many veterans and relations of those who served in the forces, so we wanted to pay tribute to them and give our thanks to all of those who fought for their country. We would like to welcome any local veterans to enjoy the company of our residents for an afternoon and take in the peaceful surroundings of our care home.”
To book a place at the D-Day afternoon event on Thursday 6 June, call St Ives House on 01425 481220.
