A man has been jailed for two years and four months for attempting to burgle two houses and interfere with nine cars in Bournemouth.
Robbie Lyons, 36 and of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 26 June.
He pleaded guilty to the offences.
The court heard that around 3.30am on Saturday 14 March this year, Lyons was seen trying the car door handles to multiple vehicles parked along Arthur Close. He was later seen trying to open a patio door of a house along Wimborne Road. He then attempted to open a door on a house nearby on Arthur Close.
Lyons was arrested by police a short time later.
Detective Sergeant Adam Woolman, of Bournemouth CID, said: “These types of crime can be extremely distressing for victims and Dorset Police is committed to catching offenders.
“The majority of burglaries and vehicle crime occur because people don’t lock up their homes or cars properly and offenders such as Lyons will try their chances to target these people. But by following simple crime prevention steps you can avoid becoming a victim of these types of crime.
“This sentence should send out a clear message that anyone committing offences such as burglary will be dealt with robustly by both Dorset Police and the courts.”
