Bournemouth Jazz Orchestra, under its leader Tony Waller, is proving increasingly popular through its series of monthly fund-raising concerts. Last year these raised more than £5,000 for school music departments and other good causes.
The band returns to Wimborne for an evening of big band swing and jazz at the Allendale Community Centre on Monday 16 February. Featuring many of the top musicians from the Solent area, they will be playing music from the likes of the Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton and Glenn Miller Orchestras.
Organised by Wimborne Rotary and sponsored by its Business Partners, admission is free, with a retiring collection in aid of the Friends of Victoria Hospital and Rotary charities. Start time is 7.30pm. Tickets will be issued at the door, and those planning to attend are reminded that seating capacity is 300 maximum.
