There was a host of VIP visitors at Ferndown Jitsu on 2 July, who congratulated Sensei Jordan Lea on winning the Charlotte Read Award for Endeavour 2014. Sensei John Hanrahan said, “Well done Jordan and keep up all the good work you do at the club.”
HM Lord Lieutenant of Dorset Angus Campbell added, “You were all fantastic tonight with your demos, displays and a pleasure to watch.”
The endeavour award is named in honour of a young member lost to cancer, Charlotte Read, 18, who passed away in February 2008 after a five-year battle with the disease. She had joined Ferndown Jitsu Club at its first session in February 2000 and remained a staunch supporter throughout her illness. Charlotte’s contribution went far beyond her activities as a competitor and despite everything she went through, she always came back to the club to help others. Charlotte’s Award is all about willpower, having a go at new things and getting on with life.
Well done Jordan and keep up all the good work you do at the club and a big Thank you goes to HM Lord Lieutenant of Dorset Angus Campbell, for coming along to present the Charlotte Read Award for Endeavour 2014.
