Do you fancy taking part in a short guided health walk? Poulner Health Walkers have been walking and talking for several years. These free walks offer a wonderful opportunity to meet people and see the local area from a different perspective. Walkers often share local history and other local knowledge. Once you become a regular, of course, you can just go along for a chat and a catch up with friends.
Evelyn, the Volunteer Walk Leader, has been leading the walks since they began. Walkers meet at Cornerways Medical Centre twice a month at 1.30pm on a Wednesday.
If you are a keen walker and would like to become a volunteer walk leader, a full day’s training is provided absolutely free. The training focuses on the practicalities of leading a health walk and route planning but also touches on the benefits of walking and route planning.
Walking is proven to improve health and happiness so why not enquire about becoming a Volunteer Walk Leader in your area under this nationally supported scheme.
