Jurassic Coast March to care for casualties
A veteran from the 1st Battalion Light Infantry will be joining over 200 veterans and service personnel in a march along the Jurassic Coast.
Paul Thorner, a veteran from the 1st Battalion Light Infantry who is joining the Jurassic Coast March said: “The march will raise funds and awareness for Care For Casualties – The Rifles Regiment and PTSD. Every year, we lose brothers and sisters who return from conflict, that struggle with their demons and injuries and suffer from the dreaded PTSD, that ends in them taking their life.
“When you ask a veteran when they were last there, in many cases the answer would be ‘every night’. The military train you to go to war, but no one trains you to come home.”
Starting from Lulworth Cove on Friday 17 September after a Drumhead service at 9.30am to remember those who have been lost, the march will commence along the coastal path to Bowleaze Cove and end at the Town Clock on Weymouth front.
It will continue on Saturday 18 September From Bagwell Farm to West Bay and on Sunday 19 September from West Bay to Lyme Regis, ending at the lifeboat station on the front.
There will be collections available along the route and anyone who would like to make a donation can do so using the following link.
Anyone wishing to join in the outside remembrance service is welcome.
