The Chairman of East Dorset District Council, Cllr Robin Cook, has launched a prize draw for a unique piece of artwork of Dorset’s Jurassic coast by local silk weaver, Debby Kirby.
Based at Walford Mill Crafts in Wimborne, Debby takes her inspiration from a catalogue of images taken by her husband Jez who cycles around the Dorset countryside capturing the changing seasons. Her method of incorporating photography into textiles means that she dyes the silk threads to complement the imagery and every picture is individual and cannot be replicated.
Donated by Debby the picture has been framed courtesy of Wimborne Picture Framing and the money raised will be in aid of the chairman’s chosen charities: .the Alzheimer’s Society and The Friends of Victoria Hospital Wimborne.
Cllr Cook said, “A big thank you to Debby, Jez, and Lorraine for their support for these two very worthy charities.”
Entries cost £2 and tickets will be on sale at various venues or contact Robin on 07968 265897. The draw will take place on 7 March 2015.
