A concert performed by the Land Girls, hosted by the Ferndown Haskins Garden Centre, has raised £871.60 for Poole’s Forest Holme Hospice. Land Girls Helen Golding and Pippa Thurgood performed a superb selection of nostalgic hits from the 40s with all the proceeds from the tickets sold going to the hospice.
One of Haskin’s head office staff, Rose Burdett, who lost a friend to cancer in January and her uncle two years ago, has great praise for the essential care offered by Forest Holme. Rose made a range of peg and carrier bags to be sold with all proceeds adding to the concerts total.
The 130 members of the audience enjoyed beverages laid on by the restaurant team with special homemade cakes during the interval and had the opportunity to meet fundraisers from the hospice, including Hannah Parsons, Events and Corporate Fundraiser at Forest Holme.
Matt Hill, General Manager at Haskins, said that the evening was enjoyed by a wide age group within the audience and he and the catering team look forward to organising another fundraising concert in future.
The Haskins website www.haskins.co.uk will provide details of events and activities to be held at the centre. Anyone wishing to offer support, or to find out more about Forest Holme Hospice, can contact Hannah Parsons on 01202 442558 or hannah@forestholmehospice.org.uk
