With just one week to go, more than 340 people have signed up for the 2014 Twilight Walk for Women – and there is still time to join them.
Walkers can take part in the 1k, 5k or 10k stroll starting from Bournemouth Pier at 8pm on Friday 6 June. Money raised will go towards kitting out the new women’s health unit, part of the Jigsaw building currently being built at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Joan Martin has taken part in every Twilight Walk since the first one back in 2011. She said: “There’s a really lovely feel to the Twilight Walk. Everyone goes at their own pace and enjoys the beautiful beach on a summer evening. It’s a fantastic event and a really worthwhile cause.”
Barry Wilson, Bournemouth Hospital Charity Fundraising Officer, said: “We’re delighted with the registration numbers so far but want more people to sign up.
“Last year’s event was really successful and we’re hoping to turn the promenade pink again so need the public’s support.”
Registration forms can be picked up from the Charity Office situated in the main entrance at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital or you can download a copy at www.bournemouthhospitalcharity.org.uk. Registration costs £15 per person. Fancy dress is optional.
