Let them be a chorister for a day at Salisbury Cathedral
Salisbury Cathedral’s chorister recruitment is getting back on track after disruption caused by the pandemic.
Salisbury Cathedral will be running its popular chorister recruitment event, Be a Chorister for a Day, on Saturday 2 October. Boys and girls in Years 2, 3 and 4 are invited to join the cathedral and Cathedral School music team for this event.
Be a Chorister for a Day promises to be lots of fun. The children who attend will have the opportunity to sing with the current choristers and find out what life is like at the cathedral and Cathedral School.
While the children are rehearsing, their parents will be able to find out more information about what being a chorister, and parent of a chorister, entails and gather information about bursaries and grants available to prospective choristers.
The day will end with a special Evensong led by the cathedral’s director of music, David Halls, performed by all the visiting children along with the choristers.
David Halls said: “You don’t have to play instruments or read music to book your place. This day is for children who love to sing and are natural team players. We can teach them the rest. They just need that raw talent and interest.”
To register for the event, contact Jo Jo Orange, registrar by email on chorister.recruitment@salcath.co.uk or call 01722 555315.
