Lib Dem candidate wins Talbot & Branksome Woods by-election
Dawn Logan was elected as the councillor for the Talbot & Branksome Woods ward at the by-election on Thursday 11 September.
Residents of Talbot and Branksome Woods headed to polling stations to vote for a new councillor on Thursday 11 September and have elected the Liberal Democrat candidate Dawn Logan.
The by-election was triggered after Cllr Philip Broadhead, the former leader of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council, stepped down from his role as councillor in July.
The results were announced this morning. Out of an electorate of 9,900 people, 2,808 cast a vote: a turnout of just 28.36 per cent.
Logan won the election with 910 votes. The results for the rest of the candidates are as follows:
- Charlie Cushway – Labour 170
- Amy Louise Hardy – Green 165
- Martin Houlden – Reform UK 791
- Jo Keeling – Local Conservatives 770
In a statement published before the election, Logan said that, if elected, she will: “- Ensure council services deliver value for money; work hard to ensure this is a safe neighbourhood to live and raise children; support families and combat loneliness in our community; and protect our green spaces and promote health and wellbeing.”
