Lewis-Manning Hospice’s Light up a Life service will take place on Friday November 27.
Light up a Life is the name given to a series of special community events which take place throughout the UK during November and December every year. Those attending can dedicate a light in memory of a loved one.
The remembrance service at Lewis-Manning is held in the grounds of the hospice which overlook Poole Harbour. The service is open to everyone and is preceded with a candlelit walk at 6pm from Sandbanks Café. Walkers make their way along the seafront and up to the hospice to join the 7pm service which culminates in the lighting of the Christmas tree and a mulled wine and mince pies reception.
A poem will be read at the service by Margaret Baker, partner at Humphries Kirk, a firm of local solicitors that is supporting the event. She said: “Humphries Kirk is proud to sponsor a service that celebrates and reflects on the life of a loved one. What’s more, I am honoured to read at the forthcoming service.”
Paul Tucker, Lewis-Manning’s communications officer, said: “The tree illuminated during the service is not just a special way to remember loved ones, but also a symbol of our hopes for the future.”
Lewis-Manning Hospice provides specialist palliative nursing day care for local people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. Candles and lanterns for the service are provided by the hospice in return for a small donation.
