Over £5,000 was raised for two local charities when hundreds of people helped make Bournemouth seafront sparkle at the start of October half term. Tea lights were turned on to remember loved ones at Bournemouth Hospital Charity and Macmillan Caring Locally’s joint Light up the Prom event held at Bournemouth seafront.
The money will be split equally between the two charities; benefiting patients by helping to fund the Orchard Garden Project at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, and helping those at the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital provide the best possible care to patients nearing the end of their lives.
Hundreds of people observed a moving two minutes silence while holding their light, followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
Those who bought a light could enter a name into a Book of Light. This list is now available at http://bournemouthhospitalcharity.org/book-light-2015/ and people are encouraged to check that the name they submitted is displayed correctly on the list. If a change is needed, please contact the Charity Office on 01202 704060 by 27 November. Changes submitted after the date will not be made. Books will be displayed in the chapels at both the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals from the beginning of December.
