When the Romsey Male Voice Choir, who are well known in Hampshire, wanted to reach a Dorset audience, they contacted the Wimborne and Ferndown Lions Club. A concert was held on 29 March in Wimborne Minster, promoted by the Lions and sung by the choir with contributions from the Dorset Youth Wind Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble.
The concert was enjoyed by some 160 people who were treated to a range of songs by the mature members of the choir, with piano or unaccompanied, interspersed with some remarkable playing by the young members of the Dorset Youth Orchestra.
The concert was held to raise funds for the Julia’s House Children’s Hospice in Corfe Mullen and a cheque for £818 was subsequently given to the hospice.
