Local businessmen to tee off in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

Four local businessmen are to take on The Longest Day Golf Challenge to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity which is very close to all their hearts.
Donna, the wife of team captain Ed Streader, sales director of kitchen manufacturer Neue ALNO, suffered from breast cancer five years ago. He said: “Macmillan Cancer Support helped Donna every step of the way through a terrifying ordeal which thankfully she has come out of and is in remission.”
The team also includes Mike Lammas, owner of audio and visual training company Train AV in Ferndown, Ashley Grit senior engineer at Pearce Compaction Systems in Verwood and George Webb of Hamble-based Casse Tete Marine.
Mike Lammas wanted to take on the challenge in remembrance of his father Steven Ware, who passed away three years due to cancer.
George Webb wanted to complete the challenge for several reasons, Donna is his daughter and he has seen her fight cancer, but also in remembrance of his mother-in-law Margaret Peggy McColm.
Ashley Gritt wanted to participate to support the charity as he had heard what a great job they had done.
Ferndown Forest Golf Course is allowing the players access to the 72 holes free of charge. Completing the course will involve walking 26 miles – a huge challenge when you take into account one player has a heart condition and the other has a walking aid due to a brain injury.
“Our own conditions won’t stop us helping this amazing charity,” said Mike Lammas. “We hope to raise £1000.”
The guys will be taking to the course on Thursday 26 August. The team have been supported by both local and international companies, Tripleplay Digital Signage, The London Tavern and Neue ALNO.
Sponsorship opportunities on T-shirts and in publicity videos are also available for local businesses. There is a minimum donation of £150 for corporate logo branding on team T-shirts.
Contact Mike Lammas at Train AV on 01202 862552 or email trainme@trainav.co.uk to find out more about corporate sponsorship or visit Macmillan Cancer Support to make a donation to support this challenge.
