As well as devoting themselves to their music and fan base of all ages, Blake has found time to support several charities. With over a million albums sold, and having performed in nearly 150 TV shows around the world, Blake continue to build their reputation as a leading and eclectic pop harmony group.
There will be over 40 members of Rising Voices Wessex singing with Blake – Stephen, Humphrey and Ollie. Rising Voices Wessex are people who enjoy singing and find music helps them to deal with the challenges of living with cancer. The choir was set up in 2013 to support those affected by cancer, especially when recovering following treatment. Research has shown the positive impact singing in a choir as it helps to improve health and wellbeing, restores confidence and can also decrease social isolation and loneliness.
Dr Alastair Smith, Chair of Trustees and one of the choir founders, states: “Health services are good at measuring how much or how little cancer may be present – but they not so good at seeing how well individuals may be. Our aim is help people enjoy the best quality of life. Singing in a choir is one way to help achieve this and, at the same time, reduce some of the pressures on the NHS by helping people to be and feel well.”
