Are you a keen runner? Looking for a challenge for 2013? Are you fit enough to complete a marathon this April? Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance might just have your dream ticket.
The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) has one Silver Bond ticket for the 2013 Virgin London Marathon, which takes place on 21 April. With only a short time left, the charity is on the hunt for a ‘marathon’ fundraiser or ambassador to support their cause.
Unlike other charities, DSAA is not setting a fundraising target or an amount that the runner has to pledge to raise. Instead, they hope that the individual will concentrate on staying fit and healthy and completing the challenge. Of course, any monies they raise through sponsorship will go towards the £4,000 per day it costs to keep the service flying.
Tracy Bartram, DSAA Communications Manager said, “We are really excited about being able to offer someone the chance of running the London Marathon on our behalf this year.
“We often hear of people doing incredible things to raise money for the charity. From youngsters who donate their pocket money, to 70-year-olds who take on a sky dive. Many ex-patients of ours have gone on to achieve incredible things. What better marathon ambassador than someone who has personally used our service.
“One thing is for sure; we don’t have much time. Let’s hope that we receive lots of genuine applicants before the deadline.”
