Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Lymington, Brockenhurst, St Mary’s and Eastleigh were mobilised to a fire in Lymington High Street yesterday morning at 10.14am (21 December) after thick black smoke was seen coming from the back of the Fish and Chip shop.
The fire was in the cooker and extraction system. The four storey building including basement was 100 per cent damaged by fire. Crews on the scene used breathing apparatus, two hose reels, two jets and two dry powder extinguishers. They also used an aerial ladder platform for an external inspection.
The town was busy with people doing their last minute Christmas shopping many of whom stopped to watch the events unfold until almost two o’clock in the afternoon.
