Main road out of Wimborne to be closed overnight
The five-night road closure on Leigh Road/Wimborne Road West is to allow for resurfacing work to be carried out.
Motorists who need to travel from Wimborne to the Canford Bottom roundabout during the evenings next week will have to use an alternative route.
A section of Leigh Road / Wimborne Road West in Colehill and Wimborne, from the junction with Lonsdale Road (the entrance to Quarter Jack Park), to the Brook Road Junction will be closed from 8pm to 6am the following morning on five nights from 31 January to 4 February.
A diversion will operate along Wimborne Road West, Canford Bottom, Middlehill Road, Wimborne Road and Rowland’s Hill, before returning to Leigh Road.
The closures are necessary to allow for the re-surfacing of the road to be carried out, following the completion of the final sections of the new Leigh Road/Wimborne Road West cycle and pedestrian improvements. During this time, there will be some noise overnight whilst the work progresses, which may be audible from houses on Leigh Road and in the immediate area.
Dorset Council says it will endeavour to keep the levels of noise down as much as possible.
During the closures, access will be restricted from Leigh Road to Parmiter Road, Parmiter Drive and Northleigh Lane.
The works will be organised to ensure access is available for residents in the area and to Wimborne Football Club. Local diversion signage will be provided identifying which route should be used. If you are unsure where to go, please ask a member of the workforce on site. The contractors have to ensure that the site is safe to pass through, which at times may take a few minutes to organise.
Any residents needing special consideration for deliveries or mobility access during this time should contact the dedicated Transforming Cities Fund (TCF) hotline on 01305 221025 before the overnight closures begin.
